The original prototype was developed from the observation that door handles are more often pushed downwards with the palm of the hand than they are gripped. Based on this insight, a form has evolved in which the top area of contact is increased.
The outcome of Paddle handle is an ergonomic configuration, nearly anatomical, that calls back to mind an oar or a paddle.
