Michael Anastassiades is a Cypriot-born, London-based designer whose practice encompasses product, spatial interventions, and experimental works, often transcending the distinctions between different fields of creativity. In a career of more than 20 years, Anastassiades conceived lights, furniture, and objects characterized by a poetic yet rigorous interpretation of technology, materials, and functions.

His work draws inspiration from different sources and distills them in pure, simple structures: from nature to archaic references of his native Cyprus, from the history of modernism to very personal memories, art and the everyday life, a rich set of references is evoked only to be transformed into a timeless vocabulary of forms.

Anastassiades’ practice contemplates both industrial production and artisanal techniques, and in doing so it expands into a vivid, nuanced balance between improvisation and structure, control and intuition.
