Lama L

Lama L

Lama L is the natural and contemporary evolution of the Lama handle designed by Gio Ponti. The lengthening of the lever accentuates the geometric purity of the design, while at the same time improving ergonomics and the fluidity of the gesture. The low round rosette lightens the whole and reinforces formal clarity, giving the grip a leading role. A door designer handle that reinterprets an archetype with balance and rigor, keeping intact the symbolic strength of the sign in a fully contemporary reading.

Lama L design story

Lama, a harmonious handle, made “of linear and coordinated forms” capable of coherently interacting with domestic and non-residential environments.

— Bilia, table lamp, Fontana Arte 1931

In the Lama handle the “classical symbolism” prevails over the object’s “functional” approach.

— Grattacielo Pirelli, Milano 1958

To the geometric purity of its form, so slim as to liken it to a blade, there is the counterpoint of the very carefully studied definition of the radii that soften the sharp profile of its slender contours.
